Heritage Interviews
A core element of our work is the collection and storage of one hundred heritage interviews of the recollections and views of key figures in the peace process. We define the process as including unsuccessful as well as successful initiatives, and we want to go as far back as living memory will allow, including survivors of the generation that was involved in public and local policy in the 1960s. We shall encourage frankness and discourage spin by giving an assurance of up to forty years embargo. The interviews, voice and text, will be placed in depositories in the three jurisdictions.
These interviews are now well under way, we have completed a third of our target and are preparing for the next phase. The identification and selection of participants is subject to continuous and rigorous assessment, consultation and refinement.
We have recently adapted our format to include some open audio-visual interviews. These will be made available on our website. These interviews will focus on civic life and will embrace the arts, womens movement, sport, trades unions, the private sector, education and community/voluntary sector.
